How to make WordPress run faster

by Ruchira on November 19, 2012

I have had a big problem with my wordpress setup since long time on this blog. It is that the comment replying and approving process was very slow and sometimes it made the web server to give timeout errors for all people trying to access the site including me when I was replying to the readers comments,  I had to press the submit button twice on wordpress comments admin panel to reply to the comments, and even after I have approved the comments, some leaves unapproved when i refresh the page.  For a long period I thought the problem might be the nginx+memcached setup I was using, and sometimes I have even made my mind to switch away from these complex configurations and run a fine tuned LAMP stack to eliminate this kind of problems. And sometimes I have even thought to offload the comments system to disqus because then I don’t have to face this serious trouble when replying and approving comments, but I like the traditional in built comments system and I wanted to keep that

Its a proven fact that people doesn’t like slow loading web sites it drives away sales and you wont be able to monetize it, even Google doesn’t like it and it directly affects your search engine rankings by googles new algorithms, If you run wordpress based blog or web site, there are several factors which can slow down your site loading times, But main reason tends to be the badly optimized plugins. There are thousands of plugins for wordpress and you might use 10 personally on my blog I use 30,  but just one bad plugin can cause your blog to load slowly and its not easy to find the cause unless you try by disabling one by one,

P3 Plugin performance Profiler is built to give you better insights about your plugins and how it contributes to page load and generation times

However its not for the faint hearted. While  Amazon gives you a big playground its also little bit hard to configure and setup until you get used to it. Its not your regular VPS provider, all the terms and techniques you use, are different here. LG is back on track with Optimus G

by Ruchira on September 19, 2012

LG has released its new flagship smartphone Optimus G just about a week ago. Personally I have a bad impression about LG’s built quality because of LG’s touch screen feature phones as the time I used it, just sucked in built quality. The choice of cheep plastic and specially rubber hinges tend to break occasionally with all LG phones I encountered back in time. Don’t get me wrong I don’t hate plastic and I too believe quality plastic is the best suitable material for a phone because of its relatively high shock resistivity and doesn’t tend to get scratched like aluminum or glass materials does. However LG seems to be back on track of making quality smartphones by not only the build, but the features and software wise with LG’s new optimus G
